Blogging

I definitely expected to hate blogging. I never really saw much value in it and I saw it as a way for others to share ideas. I don't usually feel comfortable with sharing my thoughts but as I am doing so for this class, I realized its power. I have done so much reflecting and thinking while writing the blog that I see its importance now. I ask my students to write their thoughts and feelings all the time and I knew the importance for them and now I see the importance for myself. As much as I say, oh yeah I will keep up with this even when I am not expected to, but I am not sure that I will. Who would even read what posting? Is it worthwhile? Hmmm....

  1. I'm just very happy to hear you say that you see the value of it - its importance. If you see it, then you'll use it with your students.

  2. I also see a lot of value in using blogs. You could require your students to read 15-20 minutes each night, and then post their reflections on the pages read and/or chapters read. You could also begin using literature circles in your classroom. You could use a blog for the students to read, discuss, and collaborate on. Students could post reflections, vocabulary, pictures that relate, alternate endings, etc...
