I'm so excited to use some of the tools that we learned today. I think it's great that we were exposed to so many different things. I'm also very happy that we have had background on many of the tools because I know I'd be overwhelmed otherwise. I am excited to learn more about Google Docs, beacause I plan to use that more in my classroom this year. Possibly even next month with back to school night, so I really want to feel comfortable with Google before I attempt to get parents involved.
I thought Skype was pretty cool, but I'm still not sure about using it in the classroom with my 2nd graders. I can see us using it as a culminating activity and "meet" another class at the end of the year.
But overall, I'm excited to use an updated 2.0 wiki as well. I can see myself using the widget function a lot and make it more fun for my students, not just an informational site from my end!
RE: Skype with your second graders. Ask Michelle to show you the wiki called, SkypeAnAuthor. You can find it with a quick search, too. There are plenty of authors who will gladly skype into your classroom to talk about their books.
